The owner of this here forum, Mr. Bert Heise, has done you (and all of us) a great service by categorizing many frequent questions like yours into groups. They are listed at the beginning of the posts. You will find a wealth of knowledge there (I was only kidding about there being a test later!)
I do have a question to ask you though: What part of the world do you hail from? The reason I ask is because you mentioned buying the bike off eBay, which leads me to believe that you live in the USA, or possibly Canada. You also mentioned that you have never riden before you bought this bike. I have two suggestions: Take a motorcycle safety course, and get a license to operate a motorcycle. The course will save your hide (literally), and the license will save you a trip to jail. In the state I live in (Mississippi), if you are caught operating a motorcycle without the proper endorsement on your license, they CAN and most likely WILL do the following: Impound your bike, take you to jail, and fine the hell out of you, all at the same time. I have a brother that can testify to that!
I'm NOT trying to scare you, just help you to continue to enjoy what you have just discovered: The wonderful world of motorcycles! Ride safe. Ride proud. Just ride!
BTW! If you look a few posts down, you will see that this is a VERY diverse group of misfits, scholars, thrill seekers, and hard noses. There are SIX people you need to look out for: (1) Peter Eide--he changes his name all the time, but don't worry, we'll point him out to you! (2,3,4,5, & 6) Jim, Hillbilly, WD (aka WitchDoctor), Hogryder, and INTRUDN (yep, ME!) It is OUR *unofficial* duty to stir things up from time to time around here. When things get slow, you can pretty much count on one of us to liven things up a bit. Someone even noted once that I know how to stir up a crowd (a badge I wear with honor!). So sit back and enjoy the show! You are in good hands with this bunch. We won't do anything to steer you wrong!
P.s. Some folks over here have their own websites.
